Horalix won the Discover ViennaUP Travel Grant and represented Bosnia and Herzegovina’s health-tech ecosystem at ViennaUP 2026 in Vienna.

Short answer

Horalix participated in ViennaUP 2026 in Vienna, Austria, after winning the Discover ViennaUP Travel Grant for promising health-tech startups from Bosnia and Herzegovina. Horalix CEO and co-founder Kerim Šabić represented the company at the international startup festival from 18 to 22 May 2026, introducing Horalix and its AI-assisted echocardiography technology to founders, investors, healthcare innovators, and startup ecosystem leaders from around the world.

Horalix wins the Discover ViennaUP Travel Grant

Horalix was selected as one of the winners of the Discover ViennaUP Travel Grant following a health-tech pitching process in Sarajevo.

The initiative was organized as part of the growing innovation connection between Vienna and Sarajevo, with support from the Vienna Business Agency and institutions working to create stronger links between startups in Austria and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Horalix was selected alongside Moj Sluh, another healthcare-focused startup from Bosnia and Herzegovina. The award enabled the winning companies to attend ViennaUP 2026 and build relationships inside Vienna’s international startup ecosystem.

The selection was also covered by Radio Sarajevo and acknowledged through the City of Vienna’s official press service.

What is ViennaUP?

ViennaUP is a city-wide festival for startups, entrepreneurship, technology, and innovation. Instead of operating as a single conference in one venue, ViennaUP brings together events, investors, corporate leaders, founders, researchers, and ecosystem organizations across the city of Vienna.

According to the official ViennaUP 2026 festival recap, the event welcomed more than 14,000 participants from 90 countries, with 65 events across 43 locations.

The festival covered areas including:

  • Artificial intelligence
  • Digital health and life sciences
  • Startup investment and venture capital
  • Deep technology
  • Sustainability
  • Corporate innovation
  • International startup expansion

For Horalix, ViennaUP provided direct access to an international audience already interested in applied artificial intelligence, medical technology, and scalable European healthcare solutions.

Representing Horalix in Vienna

Horalix CEO Kerim Šabić attended ViennaUP to represent the company, present its vision, and establish relationships with potential investors, partners, startup organizations, and healthcare technology stakeholders.

Horalix is building AI-assisted echocardiography workflow software for hospitals, cardiology departments, and diagnostic clinics. Its CardiologyAI platform analyzes cardiac ultrasound studies, extracts structured measurements, and prepares report-ready clinical information for physician review.

The technology is designed to reduce repetitive manual work after an echocardiogram has been acquired while keeping cardiologists responsible for verification, interpretation, and final clinical decisions.

This positioning made ViennaUP especially relevant to Horalix. The event brought the company into conversations spanning:

  • AI in medical imaging
  • Digital transformation in hospitals
  • European health-tech partnerships
  • Clinical workflow automation
  • Startup financing and international expansion
  • Responsible deployment of healthcare AI

Connecting Sarajevo’s health-tech ecosystem with Vienna

Horalix’s participation was part of a broader effort to connect the startup ecosystems of Sarajevo and Vienna.

For startups from Bosnia and Herzegovina, access to established European startup hubs can create opportunities that extend beyond a single event. These include introductions to specialized investors, healthcare institutions, research organizations, technology partners, and international startup-support programs.

For Horalix, winning the Discover ViennaUP Travel Grant was therefore more than travel support. It was recognition that a Sarajevo-founded medical AI company could contribute to wider European conversations about cardiology, medical imaging, healthcare efficiency, and responsible artificial intelligence.

Why ViennaUP matters for Horalix

Horalix is moving from early product development into clinical validation, hospital pilots, and international partnerships.

Participating in ViennaUP supported that progression by allowing the company to:

  • Present its AI echocardiography solution internationally
  • Learn from European health-tech and life-sciences companies
  • Meet investors familiar with medical technology
  • Explore cross-border partnerships
  • Strengthen the visibility of Horalix outside Bosnia and Herzegovina
  • Position Sarajevo as a source of export-ready healthcare innovation

The experience also reinforced Horalix’s long-term objective: building clinical AI infrastructure that can be deployed across different hospitals, healthcare systems, and countries without removing physicians from the decision-making process.

What does Horalix build?
